Fund update notification: On 1 February 2021, the fund name was changed from Premier Global Optimum Income Fund to reflect the sustainable focused investment approach. At the same time, we have improved the clarity of the investment objective and investment policy to provide more information about how the investment objective will be achieved, including details of the consideration of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors and sustainable investment approach. We will publish a six monthly report showing the fund’s record for achieving its non-financial objectives. We will also publish a report providing information on the sustainable and ESG factors within the fund’s non-financial aims, updated every six months. The fund name has also been changed to include the prefix ‘Premier Miton’ to reflect our brand name following the merger of Premier Asset Management Group plc and Miton Group plc in November 2019. The aim of the fund is to provide a yield of 6% per annum, together with the prospect of capital growth over the long term, being five years or more. Five years is also the minimum recommended period for holding shares in this fund. This does not mean that the fund will achieve the objective over this, or any other, specific time period and there is a risk of loss to the original capital invested. The fund’s target yield of 6% per annum is not guaranteed and may change if the assumptions on which the target is calculated change. Income will be paid four times a year as dividend distributions. At least 80% of the fund’s assets will be invested in a portfolio of company shares of different sizes and from a range of geographical regions and industry sectors around the world, with a focus on companies with a strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) profile and longer term sustainable growth themes, which could include; health and well-being, affordable and clean energy, and waste management amongst others. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals will be used to provide a globally recognised set of standards with which to align the investments of the fund. There will be a focus on sectors that display those characteristics, although there are many companies in other sectors that will also be suitable investments. Income is generated from two sources; from the dividends paid out from the fund’s portfolio of global shares and from call option premium received from selling call options on selected shares held by the fund. The annual yield is the sum of the yields for each of the four quarters ending 31 August. Each quarterly yield is calculated by dividing the dividend covering the quarter by the fund price at the start of the quarter, expressed as a percentage. By selling call options to produce the enhanced income, some of the potential future growth in the price of the shares is given up. Many funds sold in the UK are grouped into sectors by the Investment Association (the trade body that represents UK investment managers), to facilitate comparison between funds with broadly similar characteristics. The fund is classified in the IA Global Equity Income sector. Performance data on funds within this sector may be prepared and published by data providers and can be used when evaluating the performance of the fund. There is no guarantee that the fund will achieve its objective. The full investment objective and investment policy for the fund are published in the fund’s Prospectus. The past performance of an investment is not a guide to its future performance; the value of an investment and any income from it can go down as well as up.
