Aim:

The aim of the Fund is to provide a high level of income with the opportunity for capital growth over the life of the Company.

Investment policy:

The company invests in two portfolios:

  • Smaller Companies Portfolio

    The Smaller Companies Portfolio (70-80%), managed by Simon Moon and Fraser Mackersie from Unicorn, will invest predominantly in UK equities with a market capitalisation of under £1 billion.  The focus will be on companies with experienced and well-motivated management, products or services supplying growth markets, sound operational and management controls, good cash generation and a progressive dividend.

  • Income Portfolio

    The Income Portfolio (20-30%), managed by Paul Smith from Premier, invests in fixed interest securities and high yielding investment company shares (up to 15% of the portfolio).

Fraser Mackersie

  • Joined Unicorn in 2008.
  • Appointed Co-Manager of the Acorn Income Fund in December 2013.
  • Graduated from the University of St Andrews in 2003 with a degree in Economics and Management.
  • Fraser is a member of the Chartered Certified Accountants and achieved fellowship status in 2011.
  • Previously worked as an Investment Analyst at Unicorn and held positions with F&C Asset Management plc and Geoghegan & Co Chartered Accountants.

Paul Smith

  • Paul has been managing the income portfolio since January 2007.
  • In addition to the Money Observer Investment Trust award in 2013, Paul’s management of low risk mandates has over the last decade been recognised at the Investment Week Fund Manager of the Year Awards and membership of the Investment Adviser 100 Club.
  • Joined Premier in 2005 and has over 13 years of investment experience.
  • 1st class BA (hons) degree in Economics, MA in Finance & Investment (Distinction).
